The Monopoly Connection

Blackjack, roulette, and video poker are not the only games that have a connection to Atlantic City.  The famously popular game of Monopoly also had its beginnings here.  Visitors who take the time to explore the city will find that street names seem eerily familiar.

That is because they are the same street names found in Monopoly.  Atlantic City is laid out a a grid style city with many of the avenues bearing the names of the various American States and other popular locales, such as St. James Place.  Walking around the city, a tourist can see the inspiration of the town and how the board game of Monopoly came to be.  As with the board game, the areas of Park Place and the Boardwalk are the most treasured places and hotels in Atlantic City.
