The High and Low Atlantic City hotel rates
Visitors to the vacation destination of Atlantic City have many choices when it comes to hotels, from small and cheap hotels for the budget-conscious traveler to top notch hotels that rival any in the country. Atlantic City hotel rates can range from basic rooms for $40 per night to extravagant suites that sell for many hundreds of dollars per night and nearly every price in between. The specific needs of a visitor will determine which hotel and price level is best on an individual basis.
Atlantic City hotel rates can be Supply and Demand
As with many other vacation spots, the hotel rates in Atlantic City can vary by a large amount depending on certain factors. The popular hotels often base their rate structure on how many people are currently booked for a given time period. If the property is relatively full, then the hotel will raise rates in response to the demand. The opposite is also true. If the hotel finds that it has few bookings for a time period, they may lower the rates to attract more visitors.
Hotels also have to deal with the price changes of their competition, and a drop in rates at one property can easily precipitate a drop in the rates at another hotel. An astute visitor who is planning a vacation to Atlantic City should keep a close monitor on the prices to obtain the best deal. This theory of supply and demand also extends to the different seasons of the year. As Atlantic City is a beach destination, the demand is much greater in the summer than in the winter. With this in mind, visitors can often get discounts of up to 50% by waiting until the winter to take the vacation.
A good general rule of thumb to follow is to book early as demand and prices will often increase as it gets closer to the date of arrival. The types of rooms that a hotel is offering can also change the price. Obviously, a suite will be more expensive than a standard room at any given hotel. In addition to the suite and standard room types, most hotels have a superior type that is better than the standard room but not up to suite standards.
The Top and Bottom
The two most expensive hotels in Atlantic City are the Borgata Casino and the Hilton Casino Resort. Both locations offer top of the line furnishings and a level of customer service that is head and shoulders above the rest of the competition. Of course, this level of luxury also translates to a major difference in price.
The best rooms at the Borgata Casino and Hilton Casino Resort normally cost around $200 per night, but a special event can drive these prices up to nearly $1000 per night for a suite in either of these properties. This is quite a difference when compared to the two cheapest Atlantic City hotel rates. The Rodeway Inn South and Quality Inn Atlantic City are the best of the cheaper hotels and rooms can normally be found between $40 and $60 per night.
